You know that summer's really here when the yellow-headed blackbirds arrive to sing around the cattail marshes. As a fun twist, I gathered cattail down the previous autumn and used the fine, silky fibers to make a thick paper which I used as the backdrop for the blackbird. Despite the soft surface, the prints came out well... with a bit of the blackbird's pond within each one.
