As for many people, my first sight of a California condor (wingspan 9 feet) was memorable and profound. At Lee's Ferry, one suddenly sailed out from beneath my feet on Navajo Bridge to settle on the old bridge struts below. Since all captive reared condors are tagged, I could learn from the DFW website that "54" is a male, hatched in 2004 and released in 2006, a successive breeder and a common visitor to Lee's Ferry.
